NEC Casino Rejection Proposed to be Reviewed
Following the allegations against British Prime Minister John Prescott's bias towards the Millenium Dome, two West Midland MP's are demanding that the government reconsiders the NEC's bid for a super casino.
"I thought that the original decision was absolutely incomprehensible and what I would like to see is more transparency in how the decision was actually arrived at by Mr Prescott," the Solihull MP told the BBC.
Conservative Andrew Mitchell and Liberal Democrat Lorely Burt are to raise a challenge in Parliament. Burt believes the NEC bid in Solihull borough deserves to be looked at again.
Prescott was caught in a controversy implying that he wielded his political power to get key offices to side with the Millennium Dome. The issue was brought about by the discovery that Prescott stayed over at the Millenium Dome owner's US estate, which was then followed by the disclosure that he and Anschutz ham met on six other previous occasions.
The latest evidence against Blair's second in command was an e-mail that implies his office indeed put pressure on a key office following a meeting.
Prescott denied breaking ministerial codes by not disclosing his stay in the Colorado ranch of casino tycoon Philip Anschutz.
There were also other regional bids based on Birmingham City FC's ground and the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
